Lion Guides Safaris

Booking Terms

1. Conclusion of contract and payment

Booking requests can be made via online form or by email. The traveller then receives the bank details from Lion Guides Safaris with the request to transfer a deposit of USD 250 per person. The requested place will be reserved for one week without obligation. As soon as the deposit has been credited to Lion Guides Safaris’ account, the booking becomes valid. The traveller will also receive a booking confirmation.
The balance is due 31 days prior to the start of the tour. An exception, however, are short-term registrations, which are made less than 32 days before the start of the trip. The total amount must be transferred immediately.

2. Program

The respective program of the booked trip can be found in the program description in connection with the booking confirmation.

3. Service and Price Changes

Changes or deviations of individual travel services from the agreed content of the travel contract, which become necessary after the conclusion of the contract and which were not brought about by the tour operator, are only permitted if the changes or deviations are not significant and do not affect the overall design of the booked trip. The tour operator is obliged to inform the customer immediately of any changes or deviations in service. If necessary, he will offer the customer a free rebooking or a free cancellation.
The tour operator reserves the right to change the prices advertised and confirmed with the booking in the event of an increase in transport costs or charges for certain services, such as national park fees or a change in the exchange rates applicable to the trip in question, to the extent that the increase changes per person or per seat affects the travel price. In the event of a subsequent change in the travel price or a change in essential travel service, the tour operator must inform the traveller immediately. In the event of a significant change to an essential travel service, the traveller is entitled to withdraw from the travel contract without incurring any fees. The traveller must assert this right immediately after the tour operator has announced the price increase or change in the travel service.

4. Cancellations, changes, rebookings

Cancellations, changes and rebookings must be communicated in writing to Lion Guides Safari.

For cancellations or non-payment of the balance, the following flat-rate cancellation costs will be charged:

  • from booking 250.- usd
  • from 60 days before the start of the tour 30% of the tour price
  • from 29 days before the start of the tour 60% of the tour price
  • from 7 days before the start of the tour 100% of the tour price

The customer can withdraw from the trip at any time before the start of the trip. The receipt of the declaration of withdrawal by the tour operator is decisive. The customer is recommended to declare the cancellation in writing. If the customer withdraws from the travel contract or does not start the trip, the tour operator can demand compensation for the travel arrangements made and for his expenses. When calculating the compensation, expenses usually saved and other possible uses of the travel services must be taken into account.

5. Cancellation of the contract due to extraordinary circumstances

If the trip is made considerably more difficult, endangered or impaired as a result of force majeure that was not foreseeable when the contract was concluded, both the tour operator and the traveller can terminate the contract. If the contract is terminated, the tour operator can demand appropriate compensation for the travel services already rendered or for the travel services still to be rendered at the end of the trip.

6. Disclaimers

Lion Guides Safaris is not liable if the non-performance or improper performance of the contract is due to the following causes:

  1. to negligence on the part of the traveller before or during the trip
  2. Force majeure or an event that Lion Guides Safaris, despite all due care, could not
    foresee or avert
  3. bad weather conditions
  4. Lockdown or restrictions affecting travel to Arusha (Tanzania) or tour operations by
