7 Days Trekking & Safari
The trekking safari is intended for guests, who don’t just want to observe Africa’s wild life from a jeep. During various hikes you can observe the natural beauties of Tanzania up close.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will spend the first night in a beautiful lodge near Mount Kilimanjaro, where you will spend the first day of your trip.
Day 1 – Kilimanjaro Day Tour
The Lemosho route is described as one of the most beautiful routes. This route takes the trekker to the top of Kilimanjaro in 6 to 9 days. You will walk a part of this route at an altitude of approximately 3400m and have a 95 percent chance of seeing the peak of Kilimanjaro.
After the trek, you will head to Arusha for the night.
Day 2 – Tarangire NP – Game Drive
The Tarangire National Park is particularly worth seeing in the dry season, as the Tarangire River, which is always full, attracts animals from the neighboring regions in droves. In addition to the large herds of elephant, impala and kudu, can also lions, hyenas and cheetahs be observed here. Not to be neglected are the more than 545 bird species, that make every ornithologist’s heart beat faster.
Day 3 – Game Drive and Walking Safari Tarangire NP
On this day you not only have the opportunity to explore the Tarangire National Park by jeep, but also on a 2 – 3 hour hike accompanied by a ranger.
Day 4 – Ngorongoro NP – Game Drive
The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest continuous caldera in the world. The attractive landscape of the crater and the impressive concentration of wild animals such as elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and huge herds of wildebeest and zebra that migrate across the steppes every year during their migration is fantastic. With a bit of luck you can even see the endangered black rhino. In 1959, the area was established for multiple land use, where wild animals and semi-nomadic Maasai herders coexist.
– Serengeti NP – Game Drive
The Serengeti is a savanna in northern Tanzania, of which the southern part and the Ngorongoro Highlands were established as a national park in 1951. The word Serengeti itself is derived from the Maasai term “esirinket” meaning endless land. During the great migration of ungulates, 1.3 to 1.7 million wildebeest, 200.000 zebra and around 500.000 Thomson and Grant’s gazelle migrate across this endless land. They are accompanied by around 7500 hyenas, 4000 lions and 500 to 600 cheetahs. A magnificent sight. Anyone who has not yet seen all the animals of the “Big Five” (elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, lion and leopard) has a particularly good chance here.
Day 5 – Serengeti NP – Game Drive
You will also spend this day in the Serengeti. Every day in the Serengeti is exciting, because you never know, what you’re going to see. Perhaps you will share the excitement with hunting lions or rather with the expected prey? You might see thousands of wildebeest grazing, or you might see your first hyenas and wonder whether you find these animals aesthetically beautiful or not. Either way, you will remember it.
Day 6 – Lake Natron
Lake Natron is a salt or alkaline lake in the Gregory Rift. The lake is very unattractive to many animals due to the high temperature of the lake (up to 60 °C [140 °F]) and its high salinity. Despite this, Lake Natron is home to some endemic algae, invertebrates and birds. Lake natron is the only regular breeding ground in East Africa for the 2.5 million Lesser Flamingos.
In a 3 to 4 hours hike, guided by a Maasai, you will visit the breeding grounds of the flamingos as well as the waterfalls. It’s an exhilarating hike, characterized by gorges (good shoes are required), river crossings (where you’d better leave your cell phone at home) and a refreshing dip at the waterfall (be sure to wear a bikini or swimming trunks).
After this delightful excursion, drive back to Arusha.
Day 7 – Arusha City Tour
Named after a local Maasai clan, Called Waarusha, Arusha is the third largest city in Tanzania. The city gained notoriety through the 1962 movie “Hatari” starring Hardy Krüger and John Wayne. Today Arusha is the center of Tanzanian tourism. On the walk through Arusha’s city center we will show you, among other things, the clock tower, the Maasai market and the lively weekly market and will end our 7-day tour together.
